Wow!! Two visits in One Month!!
We had the opportunity to visit with Gena, Jaxson, and Faith on Tuesday and it was a lot of fun. The kids played outside and wore Grandpa Clark completely out! The big news of the day is that Gena learned to ride a two wheeler without training wheels. Once I figure out how to do it, I will post some great video of the achievement. In the meantime, you will have to make due with the great photo!

Christmas Day Was Wonderful
Christmas Day was truly wonderful. We opened gifts and then went to church. The choir did such a great job and it was so spiritual. The kids were all so happy to have others open the gifts they had gotten for each other. Katherine made all her aunts and uncles and grandparents a CD of photos of the kids during this past year. The others made ornaments for the same group - Kimberly an angel, Matthew a beaded snowflake, and Rebekah an icicle. Then they made gifts for one another. Katherine made Matthew a dry erase note board with dolphins on it, made Kimberly a bracelet with the colors for the Young Women's values, and made Rebekah some beautiful hair bows. Rebekah made Katherine a puzzle book from puzzles she found on the web, made Kimberly a pillow, and made Matthew some slipper socks. Kimberly made Katherine some paper dolls that stay on with magnets, made Rebekah 2 CDs of country music, and made Matthew a sack to keep his lunch in for school. Matthew bought each of the girls a calendar - horses for Kimmie, lighthouses for Rebekah, and baby animals for Katherine. They also found photos of Keith's older children and put together a nice collage. They gave me some new village houses. I was so thrilled!! In fact, the doing for one another far surpassed the gifts from Santa or from the parents. It is wonderful to see the way they have learned about giving. We are very blessed. I pray that your Christmas was as meaningful.

Wonderful Visit
Everyone was very happy to see Gena and Jaxson so close to Christmas. Jaxson is a spatial genius - you've never seen a two year old that can put together legos and figure out how things work like he can! Gena loves to play pretend and had a wonderful time with the Barbies and the zoo animals! We can't wait to have them visit again.

Curtain Call
Rebekah and Katherine put on the play "Rumplestiltskin" for the family today. Rebekah played the poor village girl, the queen, and in one scene she was the woodsman. Katherine played the King, Rumplestiltskin, and in one scene she also played the woodsman. Guests were Keith, Teri, Matthew, and Kimberly.
All props were created by Rebekah and Katherine with occasional technical help from Kimberly. To see all the photos, please click here.

The Fun of Reading
Rebekah has caught the bug! Reading, once a drudgery, has now become fun - thanks to Marvin Redpost! And the bug is contagious. Katherine has caught onto the whole concept and can now read over 300 words! It looks like the family is going to spend lots of time at the library now!

Ophelia Makes For A Long Day
The Cape Fear coastline faced the worst of Ophelia on Wednesday. Keith's daughter, Kim Clark, reported in that Wednesday was a long day with hurricane-force gusts and drenching rains that lasted for hours and hours. Damage, however, was minor at her hourse. By this evening, she had all the debris in hugh bags and stacked near the street for pickup. When complemented on her industriness, she replied, "Well Dad there was no electricity. That didn't leave much else to do." One Bradford Pear lost several limbs leaving its survival in doubt. All in all, things could have been a lot worse.

Katherine Goes Bowling!
Katherine enjoyed a day out with her scout troop. She really loves to bowl and so do her friends! Then it was on to Pizza Inn for the all you can eat buffet and plenty of music from the juke box. Finally, the day ended with a trip to the dollar store. Katherine got herself a mermaid barbie. It was a good day.
Katherine enjoys a day of bowling, pizza, and shopping with her Brownie troop.

Gena Started School!
Gena, Keith's granddaughter, started Kindergarten this year and from everything we hear, loves it! In fact, after the first day, she asked Faith, "Can I go again tomorrow?"
Keith and Teri went school supply shopping for Gena while in Florida. What would seem like a simple task, is truly monumental! With nothing but homeschooling as experience, Teri was surprised at the difficulty of filling the list! However, we were very glad to help out and be part of this "first" with Gena.

An Ocean Surprise
Surprise Visit To Hilton Head
Keith and I went to Orlando Florida to visit with Kyle. Faith and the children were in Boston, so we missed seeing them but got to visit quite a bit with Kyle despite his hectic work schedule. After getting a late start for home on Wednesday, Keith made surprise reservations at Hilton Head for an overnight stay - he is great at finding good deals! We were across the street from the ocean and had a pool. I have been wanting to see the ocean for some time and he was such a sweetheart and arranged it for me. For more pictures of our Hilton Head visit, click here.

The dry spell in North Texas was all wet Thursday.
A line of thunderstorms pounded the area with heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds, and brought lower temperatures."
They eventually made it to Dallas and got a hotel room at 2am. They HOPE to arrive in Raleigh tonight at 11:30! What a way to end a trip!!

Only Child and Loving It!
Matthew left for his long awaited trip to Philmont on June 24th. Then Kimberly and Rebekah left for GS camp. That left Katherine home alone as the only child. She was pleasantly surprised at how much fun she had! We think she liked getting to choose her lunch, her movie, her kool-aid flavor, etc without the "hassle" of common consent! However, when asked if we should get rid of the others more often, she said, quite vehemently "NO!" The girls got home today and Matthew will be gone until July 8th.
High Five For Kimberly!
Kimberly was chosen for the Sanford All Star team as a first baseman. We are very proud of her accomplishment! However, we are even prouder of her devotion to her standards. She found that the All Star team played games on Sunday and determined immediately that she would prefer not to play. We are very proud of our daughter on all accounts!

Clay Survives Horrible Crash
On June 13, a truck was turning left after crossing the Little River bridge onto U.S. 1 Business headed toward Vass and pulled into the path of Clay's Explorer. There was a horrible crash. Clays Explorer continued about 40 feet and collided with tremendous force into a guardrail. The guardrail prevented him from rolling down an embankment. Clay could not avoid the collision and was not at fault. Clay's right ankle was shattered-probably from the force of the impact as he was holding down the break pedal as hard as he could. The other driver,69, died at the scene. We are grateful Clay survived. His ankle is expected to heal, but the recovery will take at least several months. Clay has been courageous and composed despite the painful injury.

Three GS Cookie Superstars
Kimberly, Rebekah, and Katherine each sold 550+ boxes of cookies and were treated to a day at Silver Lake in Raleigh by the Girl Scout Council. Each got to take a guest and, being the loving girls that they are, they took the rest of their family! They spent the day riding paddleboats, bumper boats, and water slides, not to mention swimming, swimming, swimming! They even got pizza and snowcones!
