Not the Same Old Resolution
It is January of a brand new year and it is time to make a few resolutions. But, to be perfectly honest, I am tired of weight loss and exercise goals. I’m tired of stating a spiritual goal that just doesn’t get accomplished. I’m tired of creating a reading list of books that will never get read. Don’t get me wrong, these are great goals, but somehow, they have Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9843214.post-30829811213738936292014-02-19T03:18:00.001-05:002014-02-19T03:18:01.570-05:00Moore County girl receives kidney transplant Evie got her kidney! (The bottom of this post has my article about it - be sure to read all the way through.) So, for January, and now what appears to be the next several months, I have become the PR Coordinator for COTA for Evie W. Evie is a 9-year-old child that needs a kidney transplant. I am excited to report that they have found a live donor and the surgery is Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9843214.post-61521843463812690922014-01-02T15:12:00.000-05:002014-01-18T11:01:48.343-05:00Ringing in 2014Ah, the feel of a new year. NEW YEAR?? How in the world did it get to be 2014 when I'm still trying to get used to writing 2013? My parents used to tell me that time went by faster when you got older and I have to admit that they were right. (Did you hear that, Mom?)
Let me start by saying that I AM going to make a New Year's resolution this year and it is all about service. I am also going to Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9843214.post-26686671459059141032013-12-29T15:14:00.002-05:002014-01-02T15:19:34.910-05:00Around Our House at Christmas - More Than DecorationsI believe I may have more decorations for Christmas than the average household. When you go to the Hello Fresh website, you get to choose a box of food (Classic or Vegetarian) for either 2 or 4 people (Classic $69 for 2 and $129 for 4, Vegetarian $59 for 2, $109 for 4). When you receive the box through FedEx, you have everything you need for 3 full meals.

I love to cook great meals from scratch. I love using ingredients that are fresh and wholesome. But sometimes, I have no idea what to cook, have little time to cook, or I don't have what I need in the house to cook. I have learned of a service that meets my loves and my "don't haves." This service is called Hello Fresh (http://www.hellofresh.com/)
I was invited to give Hello Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9843214.post-18393270073479637412013-06-12T19:24:00.001-04:002013-06-12T19:24:31.438-04:00Chipolte Chicken CalzoneThis was delicious!
One pizza dough (you can make your own)
1 chicken breast, cooked and shredded
4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 c fresh spinach leaves
1 small can diced tomatoes or 3 roma tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup Southwestern Chipolte Sauce (I use Hidden Valley)

Probably because Katherine is scheduled to get a Facebook page on her 14th birthday which is just around the corner. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Here is what I read at http://socialnetworking.procon.org/:

Yeah, I'm in that place. Politics is upon us, but the twist is that now religion has come into play. Who I am politically is more of a surface issue. Who I am religiously is a "real me" issue.
Why are they mixed? However, on rare occasion, something slips through. This happened on Friday. And with it, came an idea for an English assignment. Clearly, the writer of the document was not an "English as a first language" writer. Clearly. In fact, in the first sentence, I was told that I was a legible person. Oh really? I was in a car accident and it was my fault. No one was hurt, thank goodness, but my car is in pretty bad shape. Luckily, we have good insurance - that I'm sure my rates will skyrocket on immediately.

Wednesday was our second lesson. We had been using content communication all week. I found that I am a big hint dropper, but realized that Keith is as well. He tends to ask me a question like "Are you hungry?" actually meaning "I am hungry, will you fix me some lunch." It's been interesting.
Well, one of Wednesday's challenges was to go Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9843214.post-27799941396069113552012-01-09T15:43:00.002-05:002012-01-09T15:43:44.907-05:00Word of the DayRemember how I said that I get too much email because I surf and sign up? You may also recall that I signed up to Squidoo of the Day. Its a lens, which is kind of like a blog, which is not really catching on. Anyway, as they do every day, they sent me the title of the day's squidoo. It caught my attention: Musical Earworms.

I probably won't. I think they are overrated. However, this does not mean that I don't try to improve myself and set goals.
So, where, you might ask, do I feel the need to improve? I'm an author - I write a lot. I'm a mom and a wife and a teacher - I talk a lot. I am a FB junkie - I comment a lot. It should talk about the goals I set and accomplished, as well as those not yet reached. It should talk about my goals for the new year and the hopes and dreams I have.
Yep. It should. But I'm just not in the mood for it. Christmas came and went with happiness and fun and laughter. I couldn't have asked for a better time.
On the 23rd, we had the opportunity to have all 4 grandchildren for several hours. We baked cupcakes, played games, cut snowflakes, drew pictures, played the piano, played outside. It was fun. It was exhausting. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
