Ward Festival and Talent Show

We had a wonderful festival and talent show at our church Saturday. Hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, cookies, cakes, and pies. Yummy! The cookies, cakes, and pies were all judged. Katherine won first place with her cake and Rebekah won 3rd place with her cookies!

We also took in several items that displayed our talents. I took in my sketches and books. Katherine took in her tangerine tree. Rebekah, Katherine, and Kimberly took in their strawberry jam.

Finally, there was the "live" talent portion. The girls sang "Holding Out For A Hero" from Foot Loose. And Rebekah was in charge of putting together 2 skits for the young women to do. One she wrote - it was about the Deluxe Umbrella 2000. The other was a skit about the candy shop - one that makes its way around many different summer camps!

It was a fun time for everyone and an activity that I hope we have again next year!

Cinderella Cake

Katherine has put her newly acquired cake decorating skills to use by making a beautiful castle cake for the cast party of Cinderella. She also made 36 cupcakes because there was no way the cake was going to feed all 33 cast members plus the techs, directors, etc.

Opening Night of Cinderella

Opening night had a few glitches, but overall, it was a really fun performance. Rebekah got flowers from the cast for being an assistant director and Katherine got flowers from us for being a great actor!!!!!!! Katherine had 3 friends from church come as well. Then everyone went to Fairview Dairy Bar for dessert. It was a great night!

PS I saw the second show last night and those little glitches were all cleared up!

Cinderella Dress Rehearsal

Katherine Won!

Katherine took a cake decorating class with 4H. They had three 3-hour blocks of instruction and then the 4th day was a decorating competition. She won first prize for her age group of 9 to 11 year olds.

Isn't it a cute duck pond! I love her tree. And if you look closely, you'll see some ducks upside down showing their tail feathers!

101 Dalmatians

Rebekah was in 101 Dalmatians on the 10th, 11th, and 12th. She played Perdita and did an awesome job! I watched 3 out of 4 shows - yeah, I know, it's a mom thing.

Matthew's Service Project

While out on his mission, Matthew has been helping Brother Pfahl with a demolition and rebuild of his newly acquired home. The entire inside was pretty much gutted. The big push was that Brother Pfahl only had about 3 weeks to get the majority of the work done because he HAD to move in - yesterday. Matthew sent pictures of some of the earlier work. As of Tuesday, Matthew felt like it was going to be close but that Brother Pfahl might make it!

There was a cast iron tub that needed to "leave the building" so the boys did what boys do - they threw it over the balcony!

Then there was the ceiling issue - it had to be removed!

And finally, the demolition was complete. Now what in the world did they do with all that debris?????
