Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Rebekah and Katherine slept out in the teepee on Tuesday night, April 18th! As you can see, the lions, tigers, and bears did not bother them at all - neither did the flash photography!!!

Backyard Wildlife

It is a lot of fun looking out into our backyard. We've been seeing a lot of birds and squirrels and even a rabbit or two. The best bird so far has been the red headed woodpecker. We've also seen quite a few lizards and frogs. The tree frog here was on our glass sliding door. It was fun seeing him from the topside and the underside!

The Newest Member of Sanford Ward!!

Katherine was baptized on April 8th, 2006 at 6pm in the Sanford Ward. She was baptized along with George Stewart and Barbara Brogdon - both adult converts! It was a beautiful ceremony. Katherine was baptized by her older brother Matthew and confirmed by her dad. It was a very special day. She received a set of scriptures from her parents to commemorate the day. Katherine Turns 8!!!

Katherine enjoys her "Birthday Pancakes" shaped as her initials! She also got a journal from Kimberly, a "favorites" folder made by Rebekah, 2 stickers, a sausage biscuit, and a frosty! Her party will be in a couple of weeks!

Spring Has Sprung

International World Thinking Day

Kimberly and Rebekah participated in International World Thinking Day with their GS Troops. Kimberly's troop focused on Egypt. The members of her troop prepared a display with facts, created a pyramid out of legos, wrapped a doll to look like a mummy, made cookies with an Egytian recipe, and dressed the part. Rebekah's troop chose Scotland as their country. On display they had a real Scotish kilt, played bagpipe music, and made butterscotch in addition to the facts and dressing up. They both had a great time and learned a lot about many different countries.

Kimberly decided that it was time for a new hairstyle. Here is the before and after. The change is amazing - in fact, we think that maybe we let her get too old too fast!

A visit from the Hejny's!

What Fun!! 

We had a wonderful visit from John, Elyse, Kaity, and Mike. They are moving to Sanford from NY and came down for a "get to know the area" visit. Elyse and Teri have been IM pals for over a year, and Kaity and Kimberly have been pen pals. It was super fun to see everyone in person. To see the rest of the photos, click here.

School Starts Again

Christmas holidays are past and school has started again. Monday was Matthew's first day of his new semester. He is taking 16 credit hours which includes College Algebra, Pyschology, Biology with Lab, English, and Spanish. The girls also got back into school after a short Christmas break. With new schedules and some new books, everyone is excited about the semester!

Wow!! Two visits in One Month!!

We had the opportunity to visit with Gena, Jaxson, and Faith on Tuesday and it was a lot of fun. The kids played outside and wore Grandpa Clark completely out! The big news of the day is that Gena learned to ride a two wheeler without training wheels. Once I figure out how to do it, I will post some great video of the achievement. In the meantime, you will have to make due with the great photo!

Christmas Day Was Wonderful

Christmas Day was truly wonderful. We opened gifts and then went to church. The choir did such a great job and it was so spiritual. The kids were all so happy to have others open the gifts they had gotten for each other. Katherine made all her aunts and uncles and grandparents a CD of photos of the kids during this past year. The others made ornaments for the same group - Kimberly an angel, Matthew a beaded snowflake, and Rebekah an icicle. Then they made gifts for one another. Katherine made Matthew a dry erase note board with dolphins on it, made Kimberly a bracelet with the colors for the Young Women's values, and made Rebekah some beautiful hair bows. Rebekah made Katherine a puzzle book from puzzles she found on the web, made Kimberly a pillow, and made Matthew some slipper socks. Kimberly made Katherine some paper dolls that stay on with magnets, made Rebekah 2 CDs of country music, and made Matthew a sack to keep his lunch in for school. Matthew bought each of the girls a calendar - horses for Kimmie, lighthouses for Rebekah, and baby animals for Katherine. They also found photos of Keith's older children and put together a nice collage. They gave me some new village houses. I was so thrilled!! In fact, the doing for one another far surpassed the gifts from Santa or from the parents. It is wonderful to see the way they have learned about giving. We are very blessed. I pray that your Christmas was as meaningful.

Matthew's First Semester

We are VERY proud of Matthew. He just received his first grades - 5 A's and a B!! His next semester starts January 9th and he is taking 2nd semester Biology, 2nd semester Spanish, College Algebra, Psychology, and English.

Kimberly worked very hard sewing this bear for a friend for Christmas. We are proud of how she used her talents and her love in this special way.

Wonderful Visit

Everyone was very happy to see Gena and Jaxson so close to Christmas. Jaxson is a spatial genius - you've never seen a two year old that can put together legos and figure out how things work like he can! Gena loves to play pretend and had a wonderful time with the Barbies and the zoo animals! We can't wait to have them visit again.

Here is hoping that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. As we look back, our family is thankful for so very much, including the freedom to live in this land and worship as we choose, our friends and family, our knowledge of the Savior, and all the many blessings that have come our way.
